Who am I now?

If you have read my blog from the beginning, you will have probably noticed that I have changed since 2013. So this is an update on who I am, who I want to be, and what I want to do! If you are reading because you are following my bid for Miss Bolton 2015, then Thank You for your support and I will continue my update on that too. If you are a fellow contestant then, I welcome you to my blog and please do not hesitate to add me on Facebook - I can't wait to meet all of you and hopefully make some friends for life!

Who Am I?

Believe it or not, I still have the same name: Nicole Lake. I haven't gotten married or decided to change it... just yet! I have now reached a milestone age: 18, meaning any future pageants I enter, I will be competing for a 'Miss' title, rather than a 'Teen' title. I am still a student, however I am no longer studying Tudor History and have picked up General Studies. I have already applied to Universities and I am hoping to go to Kent to study English and American Literature and Theatre Studies subject to achieving (preferably exceeding) my conditional grades (ABB). As well as my full-time occupation, I also have my part-time job at the Holiday Inn, I have now been there for just under 13 months and will be completing my gap year here at the end of this year to the middle of 2016. My hobbies are still very much the same, I enjoy to read. Although currently, my novel choices are subject to my college work. I am still a theatre enthusiast, and I have now watched my favourite musical Les Miserables live!

What am I doing?

Well, although my free time has been dedicated to my education, I have also been preparing for Miss Bolton 2015. At the end of last year, my workplace has helped me raise over £200 for The Variety Club. I have two charity boxes at the Hollywood Bowl in Horwich, and I have also sold multiple badges at College and even some at work. As well as this, I will be standing at the Hollywood Bowl before a football match (Bolton Wanderers of course) and sell some badges then too! The Variety Club is seriously making a difference, just last week I saw a sunshine coach pass me at my local bus stop. That is the first time I've seen one in my life, meaning they are expanding; so please continue donating - either by purchasing some things on their website: https://www.variety.org.uk/, donating to my JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/Nicole-Lake OR donate just £3.00 by texting 'VRTY003' to 70070.

As well as donating, I am working hard to be able to become a role model. Recently, I travelled to Bloxwich in order to be a Live Mannequin for Dragonflies Frocks and Beauty - they have some amazing dresses by Gino Cerruti and also some wedding dresses, some are being sold with the money is being donated to charity! (If you are having a wedding, Come check out the Cloisters Suite at the Holiday Inn, js) Dragonflies Frocks and Beauty's facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/dragonfliesonline?fref=ts - Please come check it out, I am on the cover (which I've only just noticed)!

In order to well in the pageant, I have also booked Pageant Training with Jess Watts (Co-owns Dragonflies  with her family) who was Miss Swansea in the Miss Great Britain pageant and also won Miss Teen Galaxy Wales 2012/13 - It's safe to say I am dedicated to this, and dedicated to my pitch.

What is my bid again?

I am not the skinniest, I am not the tallest, I am not flawless, I am not perfect. However, I do have a heart - a heart not just to those who are my family and friends but a heart towards my community and my town!  I am quite young to be entering a Miss England heat, but that's one other thing I'd like to do - Represent the youth of my town. Teenagers my age and younger, even just a year older have a bad reputation these days. We find ourselves being watched when we enter shops and I want to show it's a different generation. I'd like to represent the elderly, encourage them to come out of hiding more and meet the future generation. And most importantly, I'd like to represent my fellow contestants - If I should win Miss Bolton 2015, I would want each contestant to become an active part of my journey and to come together to show what being a true 'BOLTON GAL' is all about! As I said, I have a loyal heart, I wouldn't let anybody down. I would continue to raise money for Variety as well as Beauty with a Purpose along with any other charities that could do with a little love! It is not just about becoming a beauty queen, it is about becoming a role model and a true inspiration!
